Respect

1.
There can be no non-hatred if there is self-hatred
There can be no respect without self-respect.
There can be no self-respect without respecting others.

Respect honors the true differences between people.

Nourish, encourage, co-operate --
These are the ways to respect.

Honesty, kindness, respect --
These are the paths to the sacred.

When we value the important things, we respect ourselves.

Resentment prevents self-respect.
Therefore, self-respect requires quieting the fires of resentment.

Forgiveness requires restitution.


8.
If the offense is petty, forgive without payment.


9.
Forgive those who have harmed you
when they sincerely have asked for your forgiveness.


10.
Sincere contrition requires restitution.

What are the sources of self-respect?
Holding yourself to your highest self.
Accepting responsibility for yourself.
Accepting responsibilities for the larger world.
Letting go of resentments.
Forgiving when forgiveness is called for.
Knowing that you are less than perfect.
